10.  ANY OTHER BUSINESS

Dave (Case) suggested that the matches should start earlier at 7:45pm.  After some discussion it was agreed to bring the formal start-time forward to 8:00pm.  It was also agreed that teams could start matches earlier with mutual consent.

It was suggested by Dave (Case) that if there were 9 nine teams in the league, then there should be 4 venues of 2 teams.  After lengthy discussion there was a general consensus that three teams at each venue created a friendly ambiance whereas two teams at each venue could create a more competitive atmosphere, i.e. ‘us and them’.  Therefore, it was agreed to stay with the current format of three teams per venue (and one venue with 2 teams if there is a 9 team league).

Pat (Hare) suggested that an annual prize should be given for the team that sets the best questions – each team would vote for their favourite question setting team.  This would encourage improvement in the quality of the questions.  The consensus from the meeting attendees was that assessment of the quality of questions was subjective (from a team perspective) and hence it would be difficult to measure objectively.  Therefore, it was not agreed that a prize should be awarded for the team that sets the best questions.

Pat (Hare) suggested that teams should provide formal constructive feedback to teams on the quality of the questions that they set.  Again, it was considered that such feedback would be too subjective and hence would probably not assist in improving the quality of a team’s questions.  The Chairman also pointed out that the objective was to set quiz questions where the average score was ‘100’ and hence this is effectively a measure of quality.  Therefore, it was not agreed that that teams should provide formal constructive feedback to teams on the quality of the questions that they set.  However, it was agreed that, where appropriate, teams should provide informal constructive feedback on the quality of the questions set, i.e. a quiet word over a beer would never go amiss.

There being no other business the meeting closed at 9.20pm.

The League winners shield was presented to the Kings Head A and the KO Shield to Royal Oak A (in absentia).
