8. Any other Competent Business

8.1 Charity Week

It was NOTED that collections of £50 had been made at the Carriers Arms and £30 at Dedham. It was AGREED that the collection should be donated to the East Anglian Air Ambulance. It was Noted that the 2001-2002 donation should be to an Essex based beneficiary to balance. The collection amount at the Kings Arms was unknown at the time of the meeting.

8.2 Start Time

A number of teams requested a prompt start at 8.15pm, so that a finish by 9.45 could be expected. It was agreed to emphasise this in the Guidance notes for the Question Master/Mistress.

8.3 Return of Result Cards

The results Secretary noted that one venue was very slow to return cards and had missed some. It was agreed that the Guidance notes for the Question Master/Mistress should emphasise that the responsibility to return the card rests with the home team captain.

8.4 Time Allowed for Bonuses

The Red Lion noted that at some venues a long time was allowed for bonus answers after the first team asked had passed or got the question wrong. Alistair undertook to include advice on timing in the Guidance notes for the Question Master/Mistress.

8.5 Fixture requests

Owing to a potential clash with Cricket fixtures on the 9th and 16th September that would make the hall unavailable, Dedham requested Away matches on these dates.

There being no other business, the meeting closed at 8.45pm.
